Some of the world's finest wooden toys have come from Czechoslovakia's Tofa (or Toia) toy factory, an enterprise that produced beautiful high quality traditional toys throughout the 1950s, 60s, 70s and 80s.
Wooden blocks are the foundation of natural, open-ended toys; they were the foundation of Froebel's Gifts, and Tofa was among the European manufacturers who perfected the simple beautify of the "unit block" set in the mid 20th century.
This is a rare opportunity to own a vintage Tofa block set in its original packaging. The blocks themselves are nearly flawless, indicating very little prior play and reflecting the high quality of the wood and paint. This large (25cm x 32.5cm / 10" x 13") bucket contains a complete set of arches, blocks, cylinders and trinagles, and in the hands of a creative child there are virtually endless opportunities for creative play.
