Our exclusive tangram puzzle is a fun way for your littles to learn about colours, patterns, shapes and so much more. Think outside the square!
The "tangram" (literally "seven boards of skill") is a classic puzzle consisting of seven flat shapes, called tans, which are put together to form shapes. The objective of the puzzle is to form a specific shape (given only an outline or silhouette) using all seven pieces without overlapping. It is thought to have been invented in China during the Song Dynasty, and then carried over to Europe by trading ships in the early 19th century. Tangram puzzles are fun and challenging for people of all ages, and it's easy to see why they have been delighting and confounding people for centuries.
The pieces can be used independently and imaginatively to create patterns or characters, or older players can challenge themselves to fit all the pieces together seamlessly in the frame. While there are multiple ways to complete, it is still a challenge. You won’t solve it every time; in this way, children learn patience, persistence and strategic thinking.
